Background: 

The Hong Kong Swimming Teachers' Association is committed to promoting water safety and actively training qualified swimming teachers, aiming to provide widespread and high-quality swimming instruction to the community, thereby achieving the ideal of "Every Person a Swimmer, Every Swimmer a Life Saver."

Since 2006, the Association has organized the "Hong Kong 3000-meter Water Safety Long-Distance Swim," which was suspended for several years due to COVID, but has accumulated over 10,000 participants to date.

Since 2012, with the strong support of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Hong Kong Swimming Teachers' Association and the Hong Kong Life Saving Society have established May 1st as "Hong Kong Water Safety Day". We hope that through this annual "Hong Kong Water Safety Day”, various water sports associations can gather to promote water safety knowledge before the start of the swimming season, thereby reducing accidents.

Eligibility: Members of the Hong Kong Swimming Teachers Association, qualified swimming instructors, individuals recommended by members of the Association, or those with long-distance swimming endurance are eligible to participate. Individual participants and group leaders must carefully read the liability waiver. Participants under the age of 18 must have parental or legal guardian consent to participate. To comply with insurance terms, eligibility for participation in the swim is subject to the following conditions:

• Participants must be between 3 and 80 years old.
• Participants aged 3 to 4 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or coach to register for the activity.
• Applicants aged 65 or above must undergo a doctor's assessment to determine if they are suitable to participate in long-distance swimming before registering.

*All successfully registered participants of this year's event will receive a complimentary inflatable buoyancy bag.
Participants must wear the buoyancy bag provided by the organizer during the swimming activity; failure to do so may result in disqualification without a refund.
(This is only available for on-site distribution. If you are unable to collect the gift on the event day, it cannot be claimed afterwards.)

Rewards: All participants who complete the swim will receive an e-certificate and a commemorative gift pack from the organiser, including a large towel, a "Finisher’s Medal," and other sponsored gifts.

Group Awards:

• "Most Participating Group Award": The group with the most participants as of the registration deadline will receive a commemorative certificate. (Subsequent participants will not be included in the award calculation.)
• "Overseas Support Team Award": Overseas groups participating in this event with 15 or more participants will be awarded a commemorative certificate.
• "Group Participation Encouragement Award": To promote inclusion and encourage participation in swimming activities by people with special needs, all groups of people with special needs participating in this event will be awarded a commemorative certificate. Each winning group will be notified by the organizer via SMS or email, and a representative from each winning group must collect the award at the designated time at the ceremony stage.

Event Cancellation Details:

• If the Observatory issues a yellow or higher rainstorm warning or any tropical cyclone signal at 6:00 a.m. on the day of the event, the swimming activity will be cancelled.
• If the Observatory issues a thunderstorm warning after the event has started, the organizers will decide whether to cancel the event based on the situation at that time.
• If any unforeseen event occurs during the event and the organizers assess that the venue is unsuitable for safe swimming (including but not limited to unstable weather, damage to water access facilities, discovery of sharks or red tides, or other force majeure events), the swimming activity will be cancelled.

Other Points to Note:

1. All participants are requested to read the event rules and carefully review the "Disclaimer" before registering, and sign in the signature section.
2. Participants under the age of 18 must obtain the consent of their parent or guardian (including group registrations). Please fill in all information carefully, as participants cannot be changed once registration is accepted.
3. If a change of distance is required before the registration deadline, an administrative fee of HK$50 will be charged for each change. No changes can be made after the registration deadline.
4. The information you provide will only be used for event registration. Once the registration form is verified and accepted by the organizers, the registration fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
5. Participants agree to have their photos taken and have the right to use the photos/videos for future promotional purposes.
6. The General Meeting reserves the right to amend the Articles of Association without prior notice.

• Parent/Guardian Consent Statement (Applicable to participants under 18 years of age): I/We agree that (my child/daughter/guardian) will participate in the above swimming event, and have read all the details of the "18th Hong Kong 3000m Safe Long Distance Swimming (2026)" regulations. I/We agree to abide by the swimming rules and all written and verbal instructions given by the organizer and staff, and clearly understand the risks involved in this activity and explicitly accept all possible consequences. I/We also declare that (my child/daughter/guardian) is in good health, proficient in swimming, and has no physical illness, and is eligible to participate in the registered activity. I/We understand and agree that the organizer and/or its co-organizers shall not be liable for any injury or death caused by (my child/daughter/guardian) during the activity due to negligence, lack of skill, or poor physical condition. (If the participant is under 18 years of age, the parent or guardian must sign in the parent/guardian signature section.)
• Group Registration: This organization agrees that the swimmers listed on the registration form may participate in this swimming event. The registered swimmers authorize this organization to make this statement on their behalf, acknowledge and understand all rules and precautions for this swimming event, clearly understand the risks involved in this activity, and explicitly accept all possible consequences. On behalf of this organization, I hereby declare that the swimmers are in good health, proficient in swimming techniques, and free from any medical conditions, and are qualified to participate in the registered activity. I understand and agree that the organizer and/or its co-organizers shall not be liable for any injury or death resulting from the personal negligence, lack of skill, or poor health of any swimmer from this organization during this activity.
