The Hong Kong Swimming Teachers Association was established to train professionally qualified swimming teachers to promote and popularise swimming. Furthermore, to raise water safety awareness among swimming enthusiasts, the Association has held a 3,000-meter long-distance water safety swim annually since 2006 to raise awareness of water safety. Since 2012, with the support of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Association has partnered with the Hong Kong Life Saving Society to establish May 1st as "Hong Kong Water Safety Day." The aim of this annual event is to bring together various water sports groups to promote water safety, prevent accidents, and reduce the loss of precious lives before the start of the swimming season.

In recent years, there have been unfortunate incidents during water activities (including fishing, mountain streams, and pools). To reduce the occurrence of tragedies, our association believes that education for young people should begin, making them clearly aware of the importance of water safety. Therefore, since 2010, we have launched the "Water Safety Ambassador Program," arranging our volunteer mentors to visit various schools and organize lectures to promote water safety information. Over the past ten years, we have visited more than 100 primary and secondary schools, with significant positive feedback and results. This year (2025-2026), we will continue to provide lectures to primary and secondary schools to promote the importance of water safety. We sincerely invite your school to support this meaningful work. Details of the lectures are as follows:

Lecture Objectives:

1. To encourage students to learn to swim in order to reduce their chances of drowning.
2. Enhance students' safety awareness and sense of crisis during water activities.
3. Teach students how to handle unexpected situations.

Lecture duration: One full hour (including 5 minutes for Q&A)

The school provides the following: a computer, a projector, and two microphones (one of which is wireless).
