1. Course Objectives:
To cultivate local swimming teachers and improve the level of swimming instruction and swimming standards.
2. Course Content:
Theory Lessons:
Unit 1: Teaching Principles and Methods
Unit 2: Basic Theory of Swimming
Unit 3: Pool Safety and Swimming Hygiene
Unit 4: Teaching Methods for Guiding Beginners into the Water
Unit 5: Methodology for Teaching Front Claws
Unit 6: Methodology for Teaching Breast Stroke
Unit 7: Methodology for Teaching Backstroke
Unit 8: Methodology for Teaching Butterfly Stroke
Unit 9: Contrasting Activities and Basic Survival Skills Teaching Methods
Unit 10: Organizing Swimming Competitions, Baby Learning to Swim, and Seniors Learning to Swim
Practical Lesson 1: Swimming Teaching and Practice Lesson (Swimming Pool)
Practical 1: Guiding Beginners into the water - teaching practical
Practical 2: Front Claw Swimming Teaching practical
Practical 3: Breast Stroke Swimming Teaching Practical
Practical 4: Backstroke Swimming Teaching Practical
Practical 5: Butterfly Stroke Swimming Teaching Practical
Practical 6: Contrasting Activities and Basic Survival Skills Teaching and Practical
Practical Lesson 2: Simulated Teaching Practice (Swimming Pool)
Students practice swimming teaching in small groups under the supervision of the instructor.

Contact hours: 33 hours
Practical hours: 18 hours
Written test: 3 hours
Practical Test: Group Swimming Teaching Assessment Test
4. Eligibility requirements:
● 18 years of age or older
● The HK Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) or Form 5 (before 2011) or higher education.
● Possess a valid Life Saving certificate (bronze medal or above).
● Individuals with a healthy physique and considerable knowledge and interest in swimming instruction and training
.

6. Upon completion, you will be awarded:
Swimming Teacher Certificate
7. Upon completion, students will be awarded a professional title by the organising committee:
Hong Kong Swimming Teachers Association Qualified Swimming Teacher
